Taco stand the night after I ate there. No rain tonight.
Interest Interesting bench in Guadalajara Central.
Instituto Cultural de Canañas
My breakfast sandwich at the fancy restaurant with the lovely plates.
I,m fascinated with the brooms in Mexico.
I made it to Guadalajara today. It took 2 buses, 2 trains, another bus and a long walk but I made it to my new hotel. It is really nice. Hospedarte. Tomorrow I think I will tour the town and go to all the museums and things. The next day I'm going to take a tour of Tequila. It's the town where they make tequila.
Tonight I went down the block to a taco stand for dinner. I didn't love the tacos. I had 3 different kinds with meat and one with just cheese. I liked the cheese best. The meat kind of made me sick thinking about it. Everyone at the stand was happily ordering tongue. I tried to get plain meat but I'm not really sure what it was. The funny part was that it was outside and raining. The guys at the taco stand had a big huge tarp covering everything so people could sit and eat. It wasn't raining too hard but every once in a while the wind would blow pretty hard and everyone would get pelted with rain. Everyone just continued to eat. It was fun.
If you go back to other pages, I tried to add pictures. It's a little bit of a pain and they don't go where I want but you can have a look if you are interested.
Day 2/ Today I just floated around the city. I went to a sandwich shop for breakfast and had the best sandwich. It was also served on a plastic plate covered in plastic wrap. I think it has to do with the quality of restaurants that I am choosing. I'm sure somewhere in Mexico they use real plates that they wash.
I went to some old cathedrals and tried to go to an art museum but there wasn't any art in it. They said they will have art next Thursday. I also went to the post office and to a book store on the other side of town. I had to negotiate buses which is a challenge but getting easier. On the way into the bookstore I saw a bird get hit by a car. I thought it was dead but noticed that it was just sitting in the middle of the road not moving. I ran into the street and got it out before the other cars came and ran it over. Some other lady tried to do the same thing but I beat her to it. She was very happy with me and had about a half hour conversation with me in Spanish. I didn't know most of what she was saying but she didn't care.
I booked my tour for Tequila tomorrow. A van is going to come and pick me up. I've never gone on many tours but this sounds cheap and easy and a lot of people say that it is really good.
Day 3-
I postponed my trip to tequila for one day. I wasn´t feeling well today and spent most of the day in bed. I got up at 3pm and switched hotels. They rented my room out and told me that they didn´t have any more space. My new hotel is fine it´s called Hostel Tequila and is less than a mile from my last hotel. I will be here two nights. I got some Aspirina, chicken soup and gatorade and feel a lot better. Hopefully I will be well enough for my trip to Tequila tomorrow. I´m going to bed now.
